Emmy Winners 2024
The Emmy Winners 2024, were perhaps one of the most memorable seasons since many exciting and outstanding talents in the television industry showcased their prowess. The best of the night was undoubtedly the FX show ‘Shōgun’, which set a record by winning 18 Emmys.
These included the prestigious Drama Series award, as well as awards for the best actor and best actress. The historical drama, based on James Clavell’s novel, had already set a record for the most Emmys won by a series at the Creative Arts Emmys held the week before the Primetime awards.
The underdog of the night was ‘Hacks’, which caused a big upset by clinching the Emmy for Comedy Series. This was surprising as “The Bear,” predicted to sweep the board, broke the record for the most Primetime Emmys won by a comedy series, with 11 wins. However, it was clear that “The Bear” fell short, showing once again the unpredictability of the awards.
The limited series category also saw success, with ‘Baby Reindeer’ from Netflix winning the ‘Limited Series’ award. The dark British drama, titled ‘Donny Dunn’ and created by Richard Gadd, revolves around the life of a bartender and struggling comedian caught in a stalker situation. Gadd also won the award for Lead Actor in a Limited Series and Best Writing. Jessica Gunning was praised for her performance as Martha, whose tracking interferes with Donny’s life.
Key Highlights:
- This year, “Shōgun” set a true Emmy record by winning 18 statuettes, including the most popular ones for Drama Series, Actor, and Actress.
- Season five of ‘The Bear’ was nominated for a record-breaking nine Primetime Emmy Awards, winning seven, including outstanding comedy series, but losing the category to ‘Hacks.’
Overall, the Emmy Winners 2024 seem to represent a mix of innovation and surprise, typical of modern television perspectives.
